Calling a VMR is as simple as entering the video address of the VMR in the search field and selecting “Start Video Call”, however there are several methods to make joining faster.
Adding a VMR to Your Contacts List
If using a VMR frequently it is recommended to add it to your contacts list for easy access. Enter the video address of the VMR, right click on it and select “Add to Contacts”.
When ready to call the VMR, right click on the contact and select “Start Video Call”
You’ll be connected to the VMR and requested to enter the PIN if you are the host. Enter the PIN via the phone icon on the lower right.
Although it`s technically possible to add a VMR into a Skype for Business meeting, it`s generally not recommended for the following reasons:
- A PIN protected VMR, or locked VMR, can not be joined to a Skype meeting this way. The setup will simply fail.
- If multiple participants are in the VMR being added to the S4B meeting, they will all be put into one single PiP in the Skype meeting experience.
- The Skype meeting roster list will only contain the name of the VMR and not the participants in the VMR.
The steps are the same as it is for adding SfB users in a meeting.
- Start a Skype for Business Meeting by clicking “Meet Now” in the top menu bar or by clicking the gear icon and then “Meet Now”
To add the VMR to the call simply drag the VMR into the existing call window. The VMR will be merged into the existing Skype for Business call.
