Join a VMR from a browser

Last Updated: Jun 14, 2018 03:39PM CEST

Modern browsers allows for the use of something called WebRTC which allows us to use video without the requirement for plugins (installing extra stuff before you can join).
However - to make matters a bit complicated (but don`t let it scare you) - not all browsers supports every feature (and indeed not all browsers supports webrtc) so we recommend you use Google Chrome for your video calls.

If you plan on sharing content from the browser, you might need to enable browser add-in/extensions the first time you start sharing.

This is what you need to join a VMR from a browser:

  • Meeting link. A browser address that you can click on directly or copy+paste into your browser in order to access the meeting. Example: https://meet.videonor.net or https://join.vnor.com
  • Meeting identifier. This is sometimes embedded directly in the meeting link (the above examples are without it), but in case it is not, the meeting organizer must provide you with this. It can take different forms, but is usually given as either an email-like address like "meet.me@example.com" or a numerical id like "123456789"
  • The host or guest PIN of the VMR (if it is PIN protected).

General join instructions:
  1. Open your browser and visit the meeting link provided by the meeting organizer.
  2. If the meeting link prompts you for a meeting identifier like "alias", "call ID" or similiar, input what you got from the meeting organizer.
  3. You will also be prompted to enter some sort of display name. This display name will be used in the participant list for the meeting.
